Why on Facebook everything is an app that requires sharing info, except for "Like" of course?

I will not play video games, but sometimes there are pages for just a cause so when clicking on Join, a box pops available asking our permission to talk about my info.Even somebody birthday calendar asked my home for permission to talk about information.That is certainly not something Personally i think comfortable executing.
