Tutorial and a tour of Mozilla Firefox

 Mozilla Firefox is an open source Web browser that lets you surf the Internet in a simple, fast, secure.  Increasingly used instead of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox has a large community of developers to continually improve software, while adding a multitude of applications to facilitate your navigation and access to different services Internet.  The general interface is simplified, but Firefox does not have many less options and add-ons.
 The general interface

 Like most browsers, Mozilla Firefox is divided into two parts:the upper part of your window consists of menus, your address bar, navigation buttons, and …the central part displays Internet pages.  This interface can be customized by adding / removing elements:for this, right-click on your menu bar and context menu, click Customize.  In the new window that appears, you can add or remove buttons using your mouse by moving them on your screen.  You can also apply new themes ,  then by going to your add-ons:so click on Tools, then click Add-ons.  In the window that appears, click Themes and select the theme you’ve downloaded by clicking on it.

 

 Surfing the Internet

 The main purpose of Mozilla Firefox to browse the Internet.  To visit a website, enter the url of site of your choice, then press Enter.  Like all Internet browsers, you can use the navigation buttons (previous, next, home, …) located in the upper left of your window.  In the web page displayed, you can use your mouse to move, change pages and quickly access certain options by right-clicking (like marking a page, save an image, text selection, …).  You can also zoom into a page using the shortcut Ctrl + and Ctrl + -.
 Make a search

 By default, Mozilla Firefox has a search engine to quickly find content on the Internet.  By default, the search field is located in the upper right of your window to get started, click the small arrow to the right of this field, and select an engine of your choice (Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, …).  When this is done, enter your search term in the field, and press Enter to see the result. 

 

 Browsing with tabs

 Like most Internet browsers, Mozilla Firefox allows you to browse internet using tabs that you can open multiple pages in one window.  To open a new tab, click File, then New Tab, and to close a tab, click the little cross on the right of each tab.  If you accidentally close a tab, you can make it reappear by right clicking on your bar tab, and clicking on Cancel to close the tab.  All options for your tabs are readily available by right clicking on your bar tab (like the Refresh tab, Mark the tab, new tab, …).
 Add and manage your bookmarks (favorites)

 Mozilla allows you to record the addresses of sites you want:to save a page in your bookmarks, visit it, click on the Bookmarks menu, then click Bookmark this page (or make Ctrl + D).  All the bookmarks you save are available in the Bookmarks menu, and you can sort them, move, create folders, …by using your mouse.  To manage your bookmarks, click the Bookmarks menu and click Organize Bookmarks.

 

 Subscribe to a feed

 To save a stream of news offered in a site, first check that the site has this feature:for it, look right on your address bar, and look if an icon orange flow is present.  If this happens, click, then click the feed you want (if there are several).  In the new window that appears, use the dropdown menu to choose the option Live Bookmarks and click Subscribe now.  By default, your feed will be stored in your personal bar, but you can also put it in another location by going to the Bookmarks menu.

 Mozilla Firefox allows you to see the old pages you have visited (unless you have cleared your history) so click on the History menu and click on the page of your choice.  For all your history, click the History menu, then click View History.
 Manage your add-ons

 To manage your add-ons, click the Tools menu, then click Add-ons.  In the window that appears, you have a catalog (to download new extensions), an extension manager (in the Extensions), a theme manager (in the Topics), and your plugins (like Flash, Acrobat Reader, Java, …).  Extensions allow you to add new functionality to Mozilla Firefox:To download, click on Catalog, then click Browse all add-ons (or here).  When you have selected your extension, click on the download link, and let it guide you.

 

 Using private browsing

 Mozilla Firefox now offers a private browsing which lets you surf the Internet without any trace is saved.  During the closed session, the history is not saved, cookies are automatically erased after closing Firefox, …However, files downloaded or bookmarks added will be preserved.  When using this mode, Firefox saves the tabs currents, and then restore when you stop the incognito.  To enable this secure mode, click the Tools menu, click Start incognito.  In the dialog box that appears, click Start incognito.  At this point, all your old tabs are closed, but will be restored when you end your browsing session private.  If you want to switch back to normal, click the Tools menu, click Stop incognito.

 

 Erase your tracks navigation

 For privacy concerns, you can erase all traces of your browsing:so click on the Tools menu, click Delete history recently.  In the window that appears, select the range to delete, then select the options you want to clean (cache, history, …).  Finally, click Clear Now.

 

 Configure and display information

 To access all the options in Firefox, click the Tools menu, then Options.  In the window that appears, you have several parties (General, Tabs, Content, …) to configure Firefox and display certain information.  To view information on a page, click the Tools menu, then Page Info.  In the window that appears, you have additional information on it (General, Media, Security, …).

 

 Finally

 Mozilla Firefox browser is a very comprehensive, it has other options like a download manager (Tools> Downloads), a manager password (Tools> Options> Security> Saved Passwords), protection Anti-phishing, navigation in full screen (View> Full screen), side panels (View> Sidebar> Bookmarks or History), …All features are available in the top menu or via the shortcut menu.  Moreover, the number of extensions for this browser is very important, and updates to help improve and enrich this browser.
