Putting slashes before and after website initials?

Precisely why do people do that
I’ve seen, such as, /LJ/ and /RC/.
Is that this to conceal it coming from searches

Not convinced what everyone mean by way of “website initials”, but in case you mean something such as this:

internet.yahoo.com/LJ/

the “initials” certainly are a directory name along at the website, much like a folder name with your C:push.It’s the identical thing when this:

replies.yahoo.com/question/indexqid=20
