Can I use an arduino to run a fingerprint scanner?

Basically I want to connect a usb fingerprint scanner to a strong arduino and have it offer me an electrical out pertaining to approval, which I’d personally run to some relay that is the ignition move on our hot rod.I recognize nothing connected with encoding a great arduino but Let me learn if i am really sure it will work.
