Will this fix my laptop?

manged to get a really nasty virus on our laptop because i purchased it and also frogot that can put anti-virus material on them (i know stupid) anyway it find out doesnt view me while administator is definitely i cant work with anything possibly open the web!! so my friend had any virus in addition to got her harddrive replaced.what i wish to know is if this would work!

I dont care if all gets easily wiped ive acquired a back up but upgrading the harddrive fix that
