With IE8 I could search for text on a web page but I can’t find a way to do it with IE9. Does anyone know how?

Start>Control panel>Programs>under Plans and Features click on uninstall a program, on the actual left sidebar, click on View fitted updates, locate in addition to uninstall the particular IE9 replace and then you will go returning to IE8.
