Help with daily programs in the lastest Ubuntu?

I installed that 10.04 the revolutionary one not the mature.
After the actual installation POST started to take out all the things I wont use in addition to I still would like to remove several things but I want some assistance with sorting job applications.
What program is better for it’s purposes and also remove the extra ones in which just spend space along with resources.

Tunes:what program is better at playback as well as support the majority of audio information, I don’t need broadcasting or maybe shopping selection, Ipod or anything else.
Identical programs such as Winamp 5.0 variant or Aimp.

Movie channels:Plays a lot of formats such as HD just like H.264 filter.
Something similar to VLC, Bs gamer.

A instant messaging program similar to yahoo, with capabilities like hide/show offline and custom-made like having a settings or maybe preferices to get sounds etc.

Burners:Similar to Nero 6TH like buring info on file.

There are plenty of plans to chose and We would like everyones opinion which is most effective at what it does and ignore the remaining.

Music- Banshee or even Gnome Mplayer

Movies/videos- VLC

Quick Messaging- Pidgin Online Messenger

Burner- Brasero Drive Burner

All of these can be bought in the software center, or you should utilize the terminal to install them.
