I bought songs on itunes, lost a ton of them, would downloading them for free with torrents, ect… be legal?

When i deleted the songs, I had copied all of them, I thought.Really I just had the writing.So I saved that and now have a list of the 50 or so songs I had on the playlist i wanted to keep.
I know just downloading music for free online is illegal, but since I already bought it and can’t get it back, is that still illegal? Do I have to spend all that money again?
(I have tried recovering the songs and stuff too, just wondering about legal stuff now)

Legally, if you download the music illegally even though you bought the songs off iTunes it is STILL Illegal.This is because you paid for the song on iTunes, not for the song license.It would be like if you buy the video game Rock Band and then download all the music illegally for your iPod.You paid for the songs in the game, not for an unlimited license.
