Keanu Orange Valley: TV which is controlled by gesture

 Keanu, a technology driven by the gesture was made to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11 powers.  This technique was developed by French Orange Valley.  It is an entity of the mobile operator Orange (France Telecom), which is designed to develop the most innovative operator.  It should replace the TV remote in the coming years.

 In describing hand gestures in front of the TV, Keanu can drive the TV and access to interactive services on TV, including those proposed by a box, such as VOD.  It did not need remote.  Everything is done by the gesture!

 What is certain is that Orange does not market its own televisions.  The technology could be integrated into the live box and the operator offered to subscribers on television over ADSL.

 This technology uses a tiny camera fitted with diodes.  She films and analyzes the movements in real time.

 The device lets you control the sound by describing a circle with your hand (in one way or the other to increase or decrease the volume), select a service to the screen by moving the hand as you click, scroll vignettes of a movement from right to left, or to move the body to zoom, use both hands to turn a photo on the screen, etc..

 Orange and the start-up Belgian Soft kinetic specializes in recognizing 3D gestures that have developed this declension, have faced several challenges as isolated acts of a single user when several people are watching TV, ensuring a smooth operation which under all lighting conditions (even in the dark) …

 Obviously, much of the know-how is the definition of actions that can control the functions on the screen.  Jean-Louis Constantan, president of Orange Valley “this must be the most fun and natural as possible for the user.”

 The next step will complement the device with voice recognition.

 Jean-Louis Constantan Keanu hopes will point this year.  “The aim is to reach the end of the year 2009” he says confidently.  “The system is developed.We are freezing the gesture lexicon”.
