Symantec bought the Australian PC Tools

The Californian publisher has announced the acquisition of one of its competitors.

 We had talked about the Australian publisher free tool for behavioral analysis of viruses Threat Expert.Several awards for its security software for Windows, PC Tools will be bought by Symantec. 

 Symantec and include in its range of products anti Spy ware Doctor, Registry cleaner Registry Mechanic, PC Tools Antivirus, Firewall PC Tools Firewall Plus and solutions all-in-One Desktop Maestro PC Tools Internet Security.

 But this is not a priori in this software lies the interest of Symantec.“It was rather the impression that the motivation for this acquisition is tactical, that Symantec wants to consolidate its presence in the Asia-Pacific rather than invest in the technologies of PC Tools, “says Michel Lanaspeze, marketing director of publisher competitor Siphon.  Symantec found a way to broaden its client base poles.

Customers should not be disrupted by the takeover:PC Tools will continue to distribute its products under its name, through its existing distribution channels. 

 Symantec also stipulates that “PC Tools has over 200 employees and the company will continue its activities without immediate change.  One reason for the acquisition of PC Tools is knowledge and experience of employees.  That’s why Symantec wants to keep them after the acquisition.”

 What the publisher, contacted by e-mail, would deny.”Symantec employees associated with the Norton brand will not be affected.  PC Tools will operate as a separate unit.  “The transaction will be effective at year end.
