Will anything happen if i fill my external hard disk drive?

Basically i have a 1TB external disk drive and i had been wondering that plainly fill them up will probably anything materialize because i’ve alot of stuff which i need that can put it within, it could possibly fill the idea up hence yeah will anything take place or will it feature identical way
