Can someone explain 50mb Broadband to me as if I am a dummy?

I’m not literate in relation to IT or anything else, and have got recently already been downloading in addition to its becoming slower in addition to slower, so MY PARTNER AND I thought I might ask in the event someone could explain it to me…

I’m with Virgin Press, and have got “up to help 50mp” broadband.I download movies and Television shows, usually total seasons.

I just now did a Speedtest.online, and received “Ping 5ms, Download Speed COUPLE OF.15Mbps, Include Speed 0.93 Mbps” What this means is NOTHING to me…

Please explain all this to my family as in case you were telling you it to some child, WE dont have got any THAT knowledge, so we doubt I will understand jargon:(

When referring to Broadband when it comes to “speed”, like 50 Mbps, the service provider is hinting how “wide” the particular “pipe” is the fact will move information to you personally.Think of it by doing this:

56 Kbps dial way up modem = coffee beans stir stay straw
YOU.5 Mbps DSL = usual straw
6 Mbps Wire = hugely wide stupid straw this barely fits as part of your mouth
18 Mbps Cable television = pipe the type and model of that drain below your sink
50 Mbps Cable television = pipe the type and model of any sewer drain

Naturally, you can push much more water through the 50 Mbps pipe versus 56 Kbps pipe.

Now in case you have the FIFTY Mb Virgin Press service in fact it is only draging down A COUPLE OF.15 Mbps, there may be any one of many problems. It may be that you’ll find problems when using the wiring (like weeds clogging a new pipe, but in this case, it’s a really high fault rate inducing data for you to “fall off”).It may be that the speed test itself is an inaccurate representation within your network’s abilities (if they’re bottlenecked during their conclusion, you will dsicover the end-to-end speed for that connection). It may also mean that we have a lot with other traffic to the network at that time.

Residential online traffic is really a “shared” network, even should the provider lets you know that it really is “dedicated”.Either inside neighborhood common box or at the central switch facility, your traffic should fight with regard to space inside “pipe” using your neighbor’s site visitors. It’s like dividing way up the large pipe in to straws. To paraphrase, 50Mbps could be the “best associated with conditions” price, but is by no means guaranteed.

Wish this allows.

50mb is reasonably high, we use Virgin 10Mb.

Ping is related to games..lower is best.

Upload speed is related to hosting mmorpgs or posting files.
(Uploading a file is basically adding it to a internet site)

Download speed is definitely..Downloading.

You must have in excess of 2.15Meg..I might Complain.

A person’s Area may effect your Speed’s, The Futher on the ‘Exchange’ you might be..
This Slower this speeds move.

Heres the Speed Test ->

You have a fast internet connection to download items. There is really a faster link than this particular. The one you have is fine tend not to worry over it.Have a nice day x

>I are with Virgin Storage devices, and have got “up to help 50mp” broadband.

All telco’s do that.In this marketing world you always hear “Up to”, (Lose as long as 50 excess fat, Win as long as $500 cash etc) If they say “up to” they are not promising you will get 40 mbps downstream against y
