How can i change the background of an image ? easy 10 points…?

Sometimes i may see people editing their picture’s background….Just now only…i searched over it on search engines and reached know that it could be done by way of photoshop’s magnetic lasso option AND simply by gimp bright scissors option!!! As…outside these TWO, only 1 may be legally down loaded freely from internet….So post downloaded GIMP after which i became the scissor option also however how it is going to work further How does someone cut our picture in addition to paste the idea on elsewhere background! Howw
